How long does hiring in the Philippines actually take?

In short

Hiring in the Philippines typically takes a few weeks to a couple of months, depending on role complexity, how well-scoped it is, interview speed on your side, and notice periods. Employment setup through an EOR adds days, not months, since no entity build is required.

'Weeks not months' is what every recruiter says. Here is what actually happens between kickoff and first day at work, and where the time goes.

The realistic timeline

For a well-scoped role, assuming employment infrastructure ready (your entity or ours):

Week 0: Kickoff, role scoping, comp benchmarking.
Week 1 to 2: Sourcing, screening, shortlist of qualified candidates delivered.
Week 2 to 3: Interview process, typically two to three rounds.
Week 3 to 4: Offer negotiation and acceptance.
Week 4 to 8: Notice period at current employer, varies.
Week 4 to 6: Compliance, contract, background check, parallel with notice.
Week 6 to 8: First day at work.

Median for senior roles: six to eight weeks kickoff to first day. Mid-level: four to six weeks. Junior: three to four weeks.

Fastest we have seen with a real client: three weeks. Longest: twelve. The middle is tight around six.

What accelerates the timeline

Things under your control that make it faster:

A clear job description on day one. Unclear scope adds one to two weeks of back and forth.
Fast interview turnaround. Multi-week gaps between rounds kill candidate momentum.
A reasonable interview process. Three rounds is normal. Seven rounds is a red flag to candidates.
Prepared decision-makers. Nobody senior on vacation the week you need to decide.
Competitive first offers. Lowball offers add negotiation cycles or lose the candidate entirely.
Ready employment infrastructure (whether your entity or ours), operational before the offer.

Companies that hit fast timelines usually have all six ready. Companies that do not tend to blame the market for delays that were self-inflicted.

What slows things down

Things that add real time:

Setting up your own entity from scratch: adds up to 5 months to the front end.
Choosing between shortlisted candidates instead of committing: adds one to two weeks per cycle of hesitation.
Multi-stakeholder decision-making without a clear owner: adds one to three weeks.
Interview processes with five or more rounds: candidate dropout at each round, plus more calendar time.
Long notice periods at current job: senior candidates in Philippine tech often have thirty to sixty day notice.
Compliance mistakes discovered mid-process: can force a full restart.
Slow response times from the hiring team: any silence longer than 48 hours risks losing candidates to competitors.

The typical journey

For a typical Managed Team engagement:

Day 0: Discovery call, we scope the role, agree on package and timeline.
Day 2: Search kicks off, we start sourcing.
Day 10 to 14: Shortlist of qualified candidates lands with you.
Day 15 to 21: You run interviews, we support scheduling and negotiation.
Day 22 to 28: Offer, negotiation, acceptance.
Day 28 to 56: Notice period, we run compliance and contract in parallel.
Day 56: First day at work.

That is the realistic median. If you need faster, tell us on the discovery call. Sometimes we can compress; sometimes we cannot. What we will not do is promise a timeline we cannot hit.
